Alexander J Hilton is an artist living in Cambridge who specialises in still life paintings with oil. These paintings bring a sense of curiosity, intrigue and story telling, even though on the face of it they may appear quite simple. Alex likes to use influences from the master Deutsch still life painters, blended with a contemporary use of colours and techniques. This use of classic and contemporary styles, is a homage to the skill of the masters with a modern day take. "Many people believe still life can be quite boring but I'm trying to change that. The study of each individual subject brings so much colour and texture the longer you stop and stare. Whether it be thicker strokes that emulate a more natural woody texture, or soft blending to give waxy or smoother surfaces, the paintings are a feast for the eyes. I want to create realism from afar with the observer thinking about each slice, cut, or curiosity within the paintings the closer you get".

Alex has featured in numerous local and regional exhibitions, with work being sold in stores such as Neptune, and an ongoing curated residency of commissions for the two Michelin starred restaurant, Midsummer House.

The cost of returning the item is the responsibility of the purchaser. We recommend you use a signed-for delivery service to ensure it is not lost in transit. The original shipping cost is non-refundable.

The work of art must be returned in its original condition, in its original packaging, securely wrapped. Refunds will not be issued if we receive the item damaged.

If you have received an item that has been damaged, you must notify us by emailing hello@youngcollectors.art within 24 hours of the delivery. Please include photographs of the packaging and damage to the work. Do not dispose of the damaged work of art or its packaging.
